The Microsoft Process Explorer display consists of two sub-windows. But it can also provide you with in-depth information on threads, TCP/IP connections, environments, handles (files, registry entires, syncronization objects), and others. In addition, the program can browse a particular process name in Google, just to make sure it isn’t spyware. Such as a file, directory or Registry key, or to view the list of processes that have a DLL loaded. When you zoom in on a particular process you can list the DLLs it has loaded or the operating system resource handles it has open.Ī search capability enables you to track down a process that has a resource opened. It shows you detailed information about a process including its icon, command-line, full image path, memory statistics, user account, security attributes, and more. For those who are looking for more features like knowing if a process is safe or not and a better way to kill processes would be better to use another task manager like Auslogics Task Manager.Microsoft Process Explorer is an advanced process management utility. It also doesn't do as good of a job at killing processes that some of the other alternatives do.Process Explorer is best for those who want a basic task manager replacement without wanting to install another piece of software on their computers. The only complaints I have with Process Explorer is it doesn't show you which processes are safe and which aren't. It also doesn't need to be installed to replace the task manager like the others do. It doesn't have all the features some of t he other task manager alternatives have but it has the basic features most need. Process Explorer is a good free basic task manager replacement.
